Sleeping Beauty

Ballet in a prologue and three acts
Based on the fairy tale by Charles Perrault and the Grimm brothers.

Sleeping Beauty remains one of the jewels of the dance heritage. Created in 1890 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, it is the combined work of choreographer Marius Petipa and composer Tchaikovsky. Inspired by Charles Perrault's tale, they conceived a "ballet enchantment" in which dreams and reality intertwine, where fairies and godmothers, forces of Good and Evil, fight over the fate of two young men. The ballet show "Sleeping Beauty" will be presented for the greatest pleasure of young and old. The sumptuous sets and costumes recreate the splendour of one of the most accomplished and brilliant masterpieces of the classical repertoire.
Sleeping Beauty is still one of the most popular ballets and is part of the standard international classical ballet repertoire. Tchaikovsky himself considered it his best ballet. The outstanding dancers of the St. Petersburg Classical Ballet enchant and immerse their audience in a fairy-tale world.
